Synopsis

Ever since her mother died while serving time for a murder she didn't commit, Bell's been focused on one thing: revenge. She knows her mother was set up by the powerful Gable family, international bankers who will crush anyone for profit, or amusement. Now she's determined to take the Gables down.

Seducing her way into the life--and bed--of the family's rebellious youngest son, Lander, she figures it should be easy to uncover the secrets she needs to destroy his family. But Lander turns out to be more complicated than Bell expected. He's intelligent, mysterious--and their sexual chemistry is off the charts. Lander is still the target, but once Bell gives in to her desire to touch him, he starts seeming much less like an enemy--which is why her anger is more necessary than ever.

Becs’ Review

“Are you dangerous, Lander?”

“Look who’s talking.”

I’ve read Kyra Davis before, her Just One Night trilogy in 2013, and I’ve come to expect high quality, edgy erotic romance from her so I was completely thrilled when I saw that she has a new erotic trilogy for 2014 – the Pure Sin Trilogy.  Let me tell you that she doesn’t disappoint as I completely devoured these books in one sitting.  They’re compelling,  addictive and incredibly sexy!

So meet Bell or Bellona or whatever she happens to be calling herself today – she’s a liar, a fraud and she’s plotting revenge on a huge scale against the wealthy family she considers responsible for her Mother’s untimely demise in prison serving time for a murder she did not commit.  Would her Mommy be proud?  That’s for you to decide when you read these books!

We don’t even know Bell’s real name but her backstory is pieced together slowly for us and it becomes apparent just how driven she is by the need for vengeance.  She’s a girl obsessed and somewhere along the way, she’s lost the real person inside.  Nothing seems to matter but  bringing about the downfall of the Gable family and exacting that long awaited revenge and the real Bell is hard to see.  She seems to have lost all faith in humanity and is suspicious and wary of everyone – her childhood innocence completely lost.

We both believed that mixed up within the dust and discarded crumbs my mother was perpetually laboring to remove, that amid all that dirt … there was always a little pixie dust.

But we do get glimpses of her – at Lander Gable’s hands.  He’s her first target in her master plan and she sets out to seduce him, or rather have him seduce her, but she doesn’t bank on just how he would set her body alight, just how incendiary that connection would be and Lander brings to life parts of Bell that she’d long considered dead.

I really did adore Lander and truly hope that he’s innocent of the nefarious actions apparently brought about by his family but nothing is clear as yet in this story.  He’s incredibly intense, wonderfully dominant and I can see why Bell can feel herself falling for him and there’s also a charming vulnerability to this seemingly rich and powerful playboy.  He’s actually a sensitive and highly intelligent soul, very artistic and he often appears to be sitting back, people-watching and coming up with very astute observations.  He seems to see way beyond the public facade that most people put up and I wonder just how much he sees in Bell, his beautiful warrior, and what he actually knows about her.  There’s absolutely no doubt about his physical attraction to Bell and how comfortable he feels with her but his feelings are, as yet, unknown.

“My beautiful warrior.”  He gently lifts my chin.  “You’re mesmerizing.”

“Yeah?  Well. you’re going to have to come out of your trance,”  I uncurl the belt, swing it over the wide part of his back, use it to pull him to me.  “I want you now.”

Bell is really a villain in this story – after all what she is plotting is pretty dreadful and, should she succeed, lives will be forever altered but I couldn’t help rooting for her and feeling compassion for her lost childhood.  I really wanted to know far more about her, especially her real name and most of all I want her to discover that Lander had nothing to do with his family's actions that day and for them to fall in love and put all this behind them but that, right now, seems almost impossible and, should she succeed, what next for her?

What happens after I win?  Without revenge and vengeance – without war – what’s left of me?

As the story unfurled in front of me, I found myself mesmerised and completely captivated  and just couldn’t put the book down.  It ends on quite a cliffhanger and there’s a month wait until part two is released and it can’t come soon enough.  It’s angsty, intriguing and off the charts sexy as this very dysfunctional couple come together and can’t keep their hands off one another.  My only complaint is that it’s just not long enough – the story is so fascinating that I think we could have had three full-length novels here instead of novellas but it’s a minor niggle and now I’m desperate to know what’s coming next!  Kyra Davis does it again – it’s another thoughtful, sensual erotic romance and highly recommended by Sinfully Sexy.

5 stars!

As each part is a continuation of the previous, so do the cover art for these books work as a continuous image – they look beautiful put together.
