Two seasoned operatives finally meet their match: each other.
Cillian works for the mysterious Special Branch 20: an organization that runs black ops commissioned by the British government. His specialty is deep undercover assignments with virtually no support. He’s been alone for so long that he no longer knows anything else.
Mal’s also used to being alone. Wanted in several states and even more countries, he’s not allowed in the vicinity of any of his former Navy SEAL teammates. And his current assignment is to track Cillian in order to discover the spook’s endgame. Except he’s no longer sure which one of them is getting played.
Cillian isn’t about to let the mission that’s consumed him for the past several years crumble because an outsider is poking around where he doesn’t belong. But Mal forces his way through Cillian’s defenses—and into his heart—exposing a devastating betrayal that could destroy them both

Monique’s Review

SE Jakes has rewritten the book on action adventure in the m/m genre with this current series of books in the Extreme Escapes Ltd Universe and created a masterpiece that deserves a multitude of accolades… it encapsulates every requirement needed to make it a winner in my eyes, it’s fun, raw and powerful, the sex is enough to leave you breathless, with intriguing edge of your seat, white knuckle ride story lines that will leave you guessing right to the end, and of course not forgetting her all action alpha heros’ to die for, it‘s heart stoppingly fabulous and quite frankly will take your breath away… superb writing from an author that seems to be growing in stature and confidence with each new release… I am in awe and ecstatic at the prospect of more to come from SE Jakes.

Dirty Deeds… Mmm hmm, we definitely have a glimpse at the dirty side to these two characters, actually it’s more than a glimpse, because they seem to make sex, even cyber sex, hot, raw, intense and yes, dirty …without actually touching each other, IMing has never been so erotic and I’m surprised their computers didn’t combust with all the heat coming from those two… sexual chemistry, Cillian and Mal have it in spades! However, it was also hilarious, as only SE Jakes can do, with her knack for getting the snark and sarcasm just right… and that I can only attest to her amazing writing. Now don’t get me wrong they do get it together but that’s kinda complicated because they don’t realise they are who they are… confused much?!?

Well, if you are not familiar with the Hell or High Water Series from SE Jakes, you would not have previously been introduced to Cillian, Prophets neighbour who also happens to be a British Spy and takes great pleasure in winding Prophet up and vice versa. And Mal, dark, secretive and a loner… part of the Seal Team that was betrayed by Prophets lover and best friend John Morse. Although this is book one in the Dirty Deeds Series it is also part of the Extreme Escapes Ltd Universe. All the books are interwoven, so a word of warning, this book definitely needs to be read as part of the Hell or High Water series. Dirty Deeds is a novella, with the plot line being complex and intriguing, I don’t really want to go further than saying, that this is an extension of the search for John Morse…with MY beloved Prophet and the original Seal Team making an appearance. I love it when books connect and we catch snippets of those characters we both love and cherish…. it instantly brings a sense of comfort and recognition to the book… it’s like coming home… I am already invested in the characters before I even turn the first page.

Mal and Cillian’s  lives are steeped in lies, attachments in their kind of work is impossible, with their main objective, to get a job done as efficiently and as painlessly as possible… mission complete. They are cold and ruthless, a necessary requirement, and definitely part of the job description… they carry out the dirty deeds no one else wants to take on and only men of their calibre are capable of. But, for a moment, the briefest of encounters, these two men connected, letting down their guard and dangerously giving up control… with a stranger so Cillian thought, and part of the mission was Mal’s conviction. Driven by deep seated loneliness and mutual understanding, both men opened up a part of themselves they had kept hidden, allowing each other to see inside their souls which had for so long been impenetrable. Mal is in control of the operation, but Cillian is in control of Mal’s deepest and darkest desire and should they meet and Cillian discover Mal’s true identity that information would leave them both vulnerable.

The characters themselves, Mal and Cillian are a mystery, loners, their past lost to them in layers of secrecy with the only people to know or understand them, being those that lead the same existence, that of isolation. They are complex men, with their need to hide their true identities leaving them unable and not wanting to recognise the the person that they once were, both are lost souls, damaged by their pasts. But for Cillian and Mal, part of their past is about to catch up with them, turning their already fucked up lives, to shite!

Fuck that ending! …how could you? When is the next book???? Seriously, I NEED it now!!! …Did I see that ending… Hell NO! …and quite frankly it hurt, the kind where your heart slams into your rib cage and you just want to shout NOOOOOOOO!  How does that saying go? “What doesn’t destroy you makes you stronger”  I can only hope they both find the strength within themselves to get past that ending because…. damn it, those two need each other. There is no romance between Mal and Cillian… yet, but I am hoping that will change and what transpires at the end of this book will be fixed. Despite that ending… or perhaps also because of it, with me being an adrenaline junkie, I loved this book and what an opener for what I can only anticipate being another sure thing for me from SE Jakes.

I need me some Prophet for comfort!

Quick Q & A With SE Jakes

For me, SE Jakes is one of those authors where I could seriously be accused of stalking… I just can’t get enough of her books or her boys, well, I say hers really Prophet is all MINE!!! So I am incredibly excited that she has popped in again today to answer just a few quick questions for us here at Sinfully Sexy Book Reviews… so a huge very warm and fangirl welcome to SE…

Hey everyone!!! Thanks to Sinfully Sexy Books for having me back here for my Dirty Deeds blog tour :)  Dirty Deeds is the first in this spin-off series of Hell or High Water. Dirty Deeds focuses on Cillian and Mal, two characters who’ve been in both Hell or High Water books 1 & 2 (Catch a Ghost and Long Time Gone.) Dirty Deeds # 1 captures a very specific moment in time for the Cillian (the spook) and Mal (the former SEAL in exile).

Firstly, I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Dirty Deeds... I think I have a soft spot for Mal, but then, I always seem to go for the bad boys! Strong, Alpha hero's with an excess of testosterone is something as an author you manage to get spot on! Your books are also full of action and intrigue, with characters most often with some kind of military or police background, where do you draw your inspiration from for your men?

Thanks SO much for having me back!!! And YAY for loving my guys!!! And yeah, I mean, the bad boys are always so much fun.  As for my inspiration? First, I find alpha males (even the quieter ones) fascinating (in real life and in fiction). They’re not an easy breed, but I’m not an easy woman so I can appreciate that. I don’t base my guys on real people—my characters have always arrived in my mind, wounded and pissed off, and we go from there.

Dirty Deeds is part of the Extreme Escapes Ltd Universe, and I loved how we got a glimpse of MY Prophet in this book, yes, seriously he is mine, don't let anyone else tell you any different! ...although I suppose Tommy might have something to say about it! With the series’ seeming to cross over, how does this one differ from Hell of High Water and in what direction will you be taking it?

Ha! I’ll block you in case anyone comes running at you to grab Prophet away. (Don’t worry, there are ‘Tommy Girls (like my editor, Sarah Frantz) who will be happy to keep him busy!)

And great question! Hell or High Water’s focus is on Prophet and Tommy while Dirty Deeds is on Cillian and Mal. With Dirty Deeds 1, there’s some specific information that had to be revealed now. I could’ve possibly done it in Hell or High Water 3, from Prophet’s pov, but it wouldn’t have packed the same punch. So my editor and I discussed the opportunity to run DD 1 along part of the same timeline of HH 3.

So the order is: HH 1 & 2, then DD 1, then HH 3 & 4 and then DD 2 / 3. You’ll see Cillian and Mal in HH 3 & 4, but their next books (Dirty Lies and Dirty Love) will have a plotline separate from Hell or High Water.

Really, it works J

Both Cillian and Mal have a BDSM background, is this something we are likely to see them both dabbling in, in the future? ... did you see my eyes light up!?! And how challenging is it for you to have a main character that is unable to speak? Although the IMing worked for me... HOT, HOT, HOT and I was literally laughing out loud!

Oh yeah, way more than you already saw J (I did see that gleam!) The IM’ing was fun for sure. And you know, for this particular character, it wasn’t really that difficult. I think it’s because Mal’s a former SEAL and currently working off the grid – he’s used to covert and quiet, hand signals and reading lips as part of his job. As are the men he’s friends with. So while it’s a terrible thing, it’s not affecting him the way it might a non-operative with non-operative friends.

You left us with an ending in this book... that had me swearing, not attractive I know, and I actually think my blood pressure rose and there was definitely steam coming from my ears, firstly because I didn't see that ending coming and secondly because... I NEED the next book NOW! to appease my delicate nature, when is the next book out?

Yeah…um, so, see the whole explanation above (and remember that!) when I tell you that Dirty Lies is out in January 2015 and Dirty Love in October 2015. (HH has to end first!) And there’s a lot of other books to keep you occupied in 2014 /15, some of which have yet to be announced. I’m going to throw books in your path as I run…

I may just forgive you! …now you have appeased my need for Mal and Cillian with lots of other books in this fabulous world you have created!

Lastly... we have just had our first Reader’s Choice awards and Prophet and Tommy as well as the Hell or High Water series are fast becoming the reader’s favourites... how are the boys dealing with all that fandom?

Prophet is, of course, loving it. Everything needs to be about him. Even though he’s got his own series, he’s trying to break his way into books that have nothing to do with him. Tommy’s a bit more taken aback at the attention. And I have to say that I’m so grateful that my readers are loving my guys!

Oh Yes!!! …we definitely LOVE all your guys! Haha… and the more books that contain Prophet the better as far as I’m concerned.

Thank you so much SE for stopping by for a visit… and hopefully you will be back soon with yet another fix from your boys and MY Prophet!
